A fantastic spot to experience traditional Welsh cuisine at its best! The food was excellent - full of flavour and beautifully prepared - and the drinks menu didn't disappoint either. The interior has a wonderfully traditional feel, which adds a lovely authenticity to the whole experience. The staff were young, friendly and clearly passionate about what they do. If you're looking for a genuine taste of Wales in a welcoming atmosphere, this place is absolutely worth a visit. We loved it!
An absolutely wonderful dining experience, in the heart of Cardiff, right next to the castle. The very comfortable and extremely tastefully decorated and large interior can sit small or large dining parties. The food was fabulous. I recommend the fish pie and ploughman’s lunch. And the leek gratin was amazing. The “Brains” beer brewed locally goes very well with the food. And the staff are exceptional. They are very welcoming, knowledgeable and efficient. The best staff I have ever experienced in a restaurant of this sort. Diolch o galon !
I visited this restaurant for a team dinner today. To be honest, I've seen mixed reviews on Google for this restaurant and I was a little sceptical about my experience here. But to my absolute delight it was an amazing experience. The food was amazing. The service was great. We were 20 people at the restaurant. Everybody ordered different kinds of tissues from the menu and what I have heard from everybody is all positive feedback on all the dishes. I personally tried the shredded duck bonbon, and that for me was the star dish. It was absolutely delicious and out of the world flavours. The main course was battered chicken pasta dish which was again delicious but it was a huge portion. So great thing is that the main course our big portions, and that I have also heard from other people in my team. Everyone was very happy with the drinks that were served and it was a mix of the beer wine, cocktails, mocktails. Lastly, the desert. I had seen amazing pictures and reviews on Instagram about the desert dishes and it certainly did not disappoint anyone. We ordered wide range of desserts from the Welsh cake to the rhubarb sundae to chocolate brownie to the chocolate fondant, everything was a delight. Honestly, I highly recommend this place and I would say that probably some of the experiences people have had in the past was not that great. But from my experience, I will surely give this a five star in every aspect.
We enjoyed our Sunday lunch here sitting outside with a view of the busy high street leading to the castle... The kids Sunday lunch was beautiful. We could try a bit of Welsh cousin too
We had an amazing experience. We were visiting Wales and Cardiff for the first time and wanted to try as much authentic welsh food as possible in our short day trip. Sam was incredible from the moment we walked through the door. He recommended several dishes for us to try, all of which were amazing and gave us a delicious tour of Welsh cuisine. Thank you for a wonderful evening!
